Jay Allegretti works in conversation with sound artist Willow Hambrick to present SWARM, a full-room installation of insect wall paintings that “sing” when tapped with a cellphone. Each insect uses Near Field Communication (NFC) to link viewers’ phones to abstracted synth sounds. This exhibition invites viewers to participate in a growing soundscape, using cellphone speakers to mimic stridulation.
